What's going on?

I'm so depressed today.

A few of my students dropped out and for such petty reasons such as "he's not doing his work so it's not helping him". What?! If he's not doing his work, OF COURSE it's not helping him la! And isn't it the PARENTS' job to raise and discipline their kids? If the parents are just going to throw in the towel and give up on their children, all the best teachers in the world are not going a make a fly's wing of a difference!

It's such a waste - quitting before they even managed a chance to change and improve. After all our effort to understand them, advise them, motivate them, teach them, etc. All for what?

Sometimes it just feels like I'm running as hard as I can just to remain in one spot. Trying all sorts of strategies and ideas to improve and grow. But in the end...no significant improvements in results. Business remains as lousy as it has been for years. Students drop out, no matter how I try to explain that the need for commitment before you can achieve anything significant.

The worst thing is when I look at other Kumon instructors, who don't even need to try as hard as I do, growing by leaps and bounds.

What's going on?

I don't know...

This world is unfair huh?

Fear not. You just do your best. Some time, we can't change the parents way of thinking.

They are not in education line. Some just don't understand. Some just blast out all kind of reason to pull their $$$ out and teach them self due to financial reason.

But don't give up. One student of yours will make a difference for the future of this country.
